The online Master of Science in Computer Information Technology (MSCIT) was developed in partnership with Sun Microsystems, Inc.T and through an Academic Alliance with ORACLET Corporation.
This program will prepare you to meet present and future technological and management challenges with the critical thinking skills necessary to perform creatively, ethically, and effectively in a wide range of contexts. The curriculum is designed to provide a solid foundation in computer hardware and software, systems design, communications, and project/team management skills for the rapidly changing IT industry.
You will learn to assess the information needs of an organization, implement leading-edge technologies, and discover innovative solutions to business problems. You select areas of emphasis in Database, Networking, Object-Oriented, E-Commerce, and Management. A total of 36 credit hours are required to earn a Master of Science in Computer Information Technology Degree.
Emphasis in Executive Information Technologies
Information Technology is a necessary component of a successful business. The Executive Information Technologies emphasis focuses on how to strategically position and lead the technology resources of an organization. This emphasis brings together the components for successful leadership of a key function in today's organizations. In this emphasis, students will learn how to align technology with key business functions, how to increase the value of technology resources through strategic utilization, and how to determine and achieve critical success factors for the organization. This emphasis educates students on how to align and lead technology resources in an organization.
Practicums
The MSCIT program offers students a unique opportunity to participate in a Lab Practicum as part of their online master's degree program. A practicum is a great way for students to gain valuable "hands on" experience by working in a virtual lab environment hosted on the Regis' Academic Research Network. Working side by side with senior faculty, students make a six-month commitment to the program, which runs every six months. Practicums are available as part of the Professional Project requirement in the Database, Networking, Object-Oriented, and E-Commerce emphasis areas.
