The online Master of Science in Computer Information Technology (MSCIT) was developed in partnership with Sun Microsystems, Inc.T and through an Academic Alliance with ORACLET Corporation.
This program will prepare you to meet present and future technological and management challenges with the critical thinking skills necessary to perform creatively, ethically, and effectively in a wide range of contexts. The curriculum is designed to provide a solid foundation in computer hardware and software, systems design, communications, and project/team management skills for the rapidly changing IT industry.
You will learn to assess the information needs of an organization, implement leading-edge technologies, and discover innovative solutions to business problems. You select areas of emphasis in Database, Networking, Object-Oriented, E-Commerce, and Management. A total of 36 credit hours are required to earn a Master of Science in Computer Information Technology Degree.
Emphasis in Systems Engineering
This program is designed for students desiring a higher level of knowledge in Systems Development and or Information Assurance. As Software Engineers, Systems Planners, and Developers continue to identify problems and business needs of corporations, the same Software Engineers and Systems Planners who designed the solutions are then required to implement and validate the systems. They then must train management on how to access corporate data to make sound, quick business decisions. This emphasis prepares students for the required background in Systems Development.
Practicums
The MSCIT program offers students a unique opportunity to participate in a Lab Practicum as part of their online master's degree program. A practicum is a great way for students to gain valuable "hands on" experience by working in a virtual lab environment hosted on the Regis' Academic Research Network. Working side by side with senior faculty, students make a six-month commitment to the program, which runs every six months. Practicums are available as part of the Professional Project requirement in the Database, Networking, Object-Oriented, and E-Commerce emphasis areas.
